USING LIBRARY SPACES
Reserving Spaces at Your Library
Your Library is the place to meet! There are performance spaces, gathering places, conference rooms, and study areas. Whether you need a small, quiet place to study, a larger room for collaboration, or a venue for an important event – the right size space is available at your Dayton Metro Library.
Reservable Free Spaces
- Tutor Rooms: up to 2 people
- Quads: up to 4 people
- Group Study Rooms: 5 - 8 people
- Conference Rooms: 10 - 35 people, depending upon location
- Meeting Rooms: 20 - 60 people, depending upon location
- Branch Library Community Rooms free during open Library hours
- Tech Spaces (Main Library, Northwest, Southeast, Vandalia, West only)

Rooms can be reserved online up to 90 days in advance, by calling our AskMe Line at 937.463.2665, or by branch staff. Fees may apply.

Special Event Spaces
The MAIN LIBRARY offers unique spaces in addition to Group Study Rooms, Quads, Meeting Rooms, Conference Rooms and Technology Spaces. Two versatile performance spaces (The Eichelberger Forum and the Bassani Theater Off Third) are available for concerts, forums, film screenings, author readings, theatrical performances and other cultural events. These venues, as well as the Main Library’s three-story Atrium, Community Rooms and the Board Room, may be rented for private events. Meeting Spaces
TUTOR ROOMS, QUADS, GROUP STUDY ROOMS, MEETING ROOMS, CONFERENCE ROOMS, AND TECHNOLOGY SPACES typically offer monitors and white boards, though amenities vary by location. AV recording/editing equipment is also available at many locations with a prior reservation. Anyone age 13 and older (Tech Spaces age 16 and older) may reserve one of these spaces up to 90 days in advance online or by calling the Ask Me Line at 937.463.2665, or in person at the AskMe Desk. Same day walk-ins are welcome if rooms are not already in use or reserved. See Our Spaces
Community Rooms
COMMUNITY ROOMS are available free of charge during operating Library business hours for anyone over the age of 18. These spaces offer a variety of amenities, such as overhead projectors, integrated sound systems, and whiteboards. Amenities vary by location and should be verified when reserving a space.
All Community Rooms are available for before-and-after Library hours use if reserved at least three weeks in advance. Patrons booking the Community Room must be at least 21 years of age, and reservations can be made up to a year in advance.
Reservations are made by completing a Community Room License agreement at the preferred location. All applicable fees are due at the time of booking. Same day, walk-in reservations are welcome if the Community Room is not in use for a Library program of confirmed reservation. See Our Spaces
AV Resources at the Main Library
The Main Library’s Green Screen Room and Editing Suites provide tools for video and audio production, with industry standard video, sound, and lighting equipment. Patrons can use such resources to produce songs, beats, and jingles, as well as import, repair, process, and master audio files. The Editing Suites are also equipped with video editing, compression, and graphic tools to process video for digital and online destinations.
Green Screen Room (Second Floor)
The Green Screen Room is available only with a prior reservation and in 3-hour increments. Reservations may be made in advance by calling 937.463.2665, or in person by visiting one of the Main Library’s Ask Me Desks. Reservations can be made up to 90 days in advance.
Editing Suites (Second Floor)
Editing Suites are available with prior or same-day reservation. Reservations are scheduled in 2-hour increments. Patrons may request a single extension, for up to two additional hours, if there are no other existing reservations.
Please note: Reservations will not be held if they are unclaimed within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time. Library staff can provide a 5-minute overview of the equipment in the Green Screen Room and the Editing Suites. However, if you are interested in more in-depth instruction, please schedule a time with a staff member by calling 937.463.2665.
AV Resources at Branch Libraries
The Northwest and West Branch Libraries have a AV LAB that can be reserved similarly to the Main Library AV resources, simply call 937.463.2665 to make your reservation. While the Brookville, Burkhadt, Huber Heights, Kettering-Moraine, Miamisburg, Miami Township, New Lebanon, Southeast, Trotwood, Vandalia, West Carrollton, and Wilmington-Stroop Branch Libraries have AV CARTS available for public use upon request. It is recommended you call 937.463.2665 and ask to Reserve a Room and an AV Cart at a Your Branch Library and the cart can be moved to the space you have reserved.
