Older Americans Month

During the month of May, Older Americans are celebrated, and in Ohio there are more than 2.8 million residents age 60 or older, which account for nearly one-quarter of Ohio’s total population.

Each year, the U.S. Administration for Community Living (ACL), opens a new window announces the theme for the Older Americans Month.

This year’s theme is "Powered by Connection," which recognizes the impact that meaningful relationships and social connections have on the health and well-being of all in our community.

To utilize the idea of "connection," the Trotwood Branch, opens a new window hosted an Older American's Resource Fair on May 20, that showcased the Older American resources available for Trotwood and Dayton area residents.

Thank you to the following area organizations that participated: the Area Agency on Aging, Kettering Health, the City of Trotwood, KMG Pharmacy, Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley, CareSource, Montgomery County Alcohol, Drug, and Addiction and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS), Amy Carles of the Utilities Office of the Ohio Consumers' Council, and Montgomery County Community Action Partnership.

Additionally, in honor of Senior Citizens Day, the West Branch, opens a new window will host a Golden Years Day, opens a new window on Wednesday, August 21, from 11 am - 12:30 pm. Branch staff will spend time with older adults by playing a friendly game of BINGO and socializing.
