Try Someone New

grantsSo many times when I meet with nonprofit staff and board they lament the fact that there are just not enough funders to meet every need. Rather than continuing to go to the same people year after year, why not try someone new to your nonprofit. Start collecting annual reports so that you can see who gives to other organizations similar to yours. Start with organizations that share your mission but operate in another part of the state providing similar services to your nonprofit. Annual reports are full of individual donors and foundation names. Another way to discover whom to ask is to visit the Main Branch of the Dayton Metro Library and perform a search in the Foundation Directory Online Database. The database use is free (you do need a library card, which is also free). You may find some new funders who are in Montgomery County who would be very supportive of your mission.

If you are unsure where to start then sign up for Grants 101. This particular class will teach you everything you need to know to get started. Don’t hesitate to call for more information or to register. Grants 101 classes are held at least once per month. Help is just a phone call away, 937.463.BOOK!
