The Dayton Metro Library’s Vandalia Branch will host the Quilts of Valor exhibit September 6 through October 2. The exhibit is sponsored by the Quilts of Valor Foundation, a nonprofit that was established in 2003 by Catherine Roberts, the mother of a young soldier who was deployed to Iraq.
The Quilts of Valor Foundation gives hand-made quilts to US service men and women who have been deployed around the world. Their mission is “to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor.”
The quilts will be on display during normal operating hours, and patrons can vote on their favorite and nominate veterans and active members to receive a quilt. In November, the quilts will be awarded to those who have been nominated.
