Virtual Programs Help Job Seekers

Dayton Metro Library & Clothes That Work

CTW LogoDayton Metro Library and Clothes That Work are presenting a series of four online workshops to help job seekers land a job, and then succeed at it. Participants can attend the whole series or any session. The programs are free and take place online through Webex. Advance registration is required; registered participants will receive details on how to join on the day of the event. All sessions are on Tuesdays, 12 - 1 pm:

April 6: Resume Rescue: What Hiring Managers Wish You Knew - Register
A strong resume is essential in today’s job market. Transform your resume into a powerful tool that will get you interviews. Learn the secrets to effectively market yourself and catch the attention of hiring managers with a resume that stands out from the rest.

April 13: Virtual Interviews: Master the Ins & Outs of Interviewing Online - Register
Standard interview rules still apply, but with the added challenge of trying to make a good impression through your computer screen. Learn how to shine on your next Zoom interview, enhance your overall online presence, and avoid mistakes that can cost you the job.

April 20: Successful Workplace Communication: How to Be Heard on the Job - Register
Clear, effective communication in the workplace is a critical skill, but it can be hard to master. Improve your communication IQ by exploring different communication styles, the communication process, conversation ingredients, and how all these can affect your success on the job.

April 28: Unwritten Rules: Navigating Things They Don't Tell You in the Handbook - Register
Ever have a coworker who was hard to work with? Wonder why that person behaves that way? We’ll show you how to function as a part of a team, handle conflict, and gain the respect of your coworkers and managers.

“These programs are a great opportunity for the Library to collaborate with Clothes That Work, an organization whose mission to empower the community aligns with ours,” said Julie Buchanan, Programming Manager.

These free programs take place online through Webex. It is recommended that participants have a stable internet connection, a microphone enabled device or headset and, if desired, a webcam. If you do not have those items, you may also join by phone.
