StoryCon:Teen @ Main

Authors & Illustrators Meet and Work with Area Teens

StoryCon:Teen is designed for local teens who are interested in writing, illustrating, publishing, and graphic novel production. With a panel discussion followed by hands-on workshop sessions, teens can engage directly with authors and illustrators who will offer guidance and share their experiences. StoryCon:Teen takes place Saturday, November 16, 12:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the Main Library, 215 E. Third Street in Dayton. It is free and open to all ages, but teens will have priority if space is limited. (register online)

"We have a stellar lineup of talented, well-known authors from a variety of genres coming to work with our participants,” said Steve Moser, Teen Services Coordinator for the Library. “We are truly honored to host such a diverse group of accomplished folks.”

Bill Konigsberg (Bill's Website) is coming to StoryCon from his home in Phoenix, Arizona. Konigsburg has five published books. Out of the Pocket, his 2008 debut, won the Lambda Literary Award. Openly Straight won the Sid Fleischman Award for Humor. The Porcupine of Truth won the PEN Center USA Literary Award and the Stonewall Book Award. Honestly Ben, the sequel to Openly Straight, was released in 2017 and received three starred reviews. The Music of What Happens was released this year.

Bill Konigsberg is one of numerous writers coming to us from five different states,” said Moser. “This is an amazing opportunity to meet and interact with all of them in one place, talk to them, learn from them, and more. We’ll have their books on hand for purchase and autographing.”
