Families are invited to get ready for a fun, safe summer of biking at the Blast Into Summer Bike Event on Saturday, May 4, at the Trotwood Branch Library, 651 E. Main Street. Activities are scheduled from noon until 3:00 p.m.
Featured activities include basic bike maintenance instruction, methods to secure and protect your bike, a bike decorating station, and an obstacle course for adventurous kids. Free children’s bike helmets will be distributed while supplies last, and children will be eligible to enter a raffle to win exciting prizes.
While the Bike Event is going on outdoors, the Trotwood Branch Library will celebrate Free Comic Book Day indoors with comic giveaways while supplies last, 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. There will be comic-themed stations for crafts, games, and a movie, and superhero photo ops using the Green Screen.
The bike event culminates with a Family Bike Ride led by the Trotwood Police Department, Bike Miami Valley, and Major Taylor Cycling Club. Participants include: Dayton Children's Hospital, Bicycle's For All, Premier Health and Mike's Bike Park. A completed and signed Program Liability Waiver is required for participation in the Family Bike Ride, available at the Trotwood Branch Library in advance and at the event. Patrons under age 18 must have a parent or guardian signature.
"The Trotwood Branch Library is a large part of this community and with this bike event we are hoping to promote health and wellness, fun outdoor family activities, and safe transportation to our branch, especially for our young patrons,” said Cindy Woodruff, Senior Patron Services Assistant at the Library.
