The architects of the new West Branch Library welcome public comment at a Forum on Thursday, April 4, 7:00 p.m. at Wright-Dunbar Business Village, 1100 W. Third St. The Dayton Metro Library’s new West Branch will be constructed at the corner of Rt. 35 and Abbey Avenue, next to the original Wright Airplane Factory. The West Branch is a consolidation of the current Madden Hills and Westwood Branches.
“We knew this was the right location, but it took longer than hoped to secure the property,” said Tim Kambitsch, Executive Director. “We appreciate the patience of the community and thank the City of Dayton for making it happen.”
The architects will share specifics about the site and process, and welcome final community input before beginning the building design.
The architects are LWC, Inc., Shook Construction is the construction manager. The Library is anticipated to open later in 2021.
This project is part of the Dayton Metro Library’s Libraries for a Smarter Future system wide facilities improvement project, made possible by a $187 million bond issue approved by Montgomery County voters in 2012.
