Children's Books Gifted to Dayton Metro Library

booksDayton Metro Library recently received a gift of 100 brand new children’s books from the Brownstone Book Fund. The books range from PreK picture books through early readers, and include beloved favorites such as Knuffle Bunny and Where the Sidewalk Ends.

“This donation of classic and contemporary favorites means more books are available to young readers in our community, and that’s always a good thing,” said Holly Varley, Collection Development Director.

The Brownstone Fund is a private foundation in New York City dedicated to fostering a love of books and encouraging families to read together.

“I am interested in providing book for young children, hopefully to excite and foster an early interest and a love for books and reading,” said Diane Brownstone, Director of the Brownstone Book Fund. “The public library of my youth gave me an addiction to books that has enriched my life and my wish, with this collection, is to give this experience and pleasure to many other young people.”

Each of the Brownstone Books will have a Brownstone Book Fund label inside the cover.

“If you find a Brownstone Book from the Library, you’ll know it’s passing along the gift of reading,” said Varley.
