Calaveras poems are traditionally recited in Mexico on the Day of the Dead, often with a bit of tongue-in-cheek humor, to honor the spirit of a lost loved one. Adults and teens are invited to participate in a Calaveras Poetry Workshop with instructor Joy Levett, who will guide them through writing prompts to produce two template-based poems. The free workshops are scheduled at several Dayton Metro Library locations this fall.
Workshop participants can choose to include their poems on a display to be installed at the Old Yellow Cab Tavern for the 2018 Dia de los Muertos Celebration on October 21, 2018.
