Spreading reading happiness to communities across the nation, a unique traveling exhibit will be a featured attraction at the Dayton Metro Library’s Party in the Park in downtown Dayton, Saturday, August 4, 1:00-4:00 p.m. OverDrive’s Digital Bookmobile offers readers of all ages an interactive experience, exploring the variety of digital services available at the Library.
“The Digital Bookmobile has workstations, touchscreen activities, devices to try and more,” said Chuck Duritsch, Manager of External Relations. “Library staff and eReading experts will be on board, guiding visitors through everything they need to explore the Library’s digital collection of ebooks and audiobooks.”
Visitors can browse a Gadget Gallery filled with popular devices, including iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets, Chromebook and Kindle, and try them out.
The 42-foot long Toterhome, first launched in 2008 in Central Park, New York, has traveled more than 39,000 miles, welcoming 218,526 visitors at over 70 events across the U.S.
The Digital Bookmobile joins the Library’s traditional Bookmobile, GameTruck Dayton, PBS Kids star Mister C, a giant inflatable slide, and all kinds of hands-on games and activities for all ages at the Library’s Party in the Park. The event takes place rain or shine at the Main Library and Cooper Park in downtown Dayton. All activities are free; food trucks will be on hand for the purchase of food and beverages.
