Since 1992, The African American Visual Artists Guild of Dayton has encouraged and celebrated the work of artists, especially African American artists, who are under-recognized in galleries and museums. An exhibit of pieces created by members of the AAVAG is on display at the Northwest Branch of the Dayton Metro Library, 2410 Philadelphia Drive, now through March 31. The public is invited to an Opening Reception with light refreshments on Saturday, February 3, from 10:00 a.m. to Noon.
“Exposition Through Art – Wright Dunbar/Wolf Creek Project” features the work of 21 AAVAG artists. The multi-media pieces feature businesses, historical homes and landmarks within the Wright Dunbar and Wolf Creek neighborhoods.
In conjunction with the exhibit, AAVAG artists are leading several free workshops for adults, teens and families at the Library. All materials are provided.
