AniMangaCon: Event for Teens

Teen fans of anime and manga will converge at the Dayton Metro Library on Saturday, October 21, for AniMangaCon! The free celebration of Japanese animation (anime) and cartooning (manga) takes place 1:00-4:00 p.m. in TeenEDGE on the second floor of the Main Library, 215 E. Third Street in Dayton. The free event features cosplay, gaming, crafts, J-Pop and prizes.

“We’re excited to host the event in the teen space at the new Main Library,” said Steve Moser, Teen Services Coordinator. “We’ve got a great setup here for gaming, crafts and activities.”

AniMangaCon includes:

  • Costume Contest - enter as an individual or a group in the costume contest
  • Crafts - Make buttons and perler bead creations
  • Tabletop and oversize games
  • Video Games - A Super Smash Bros. tournament on the Library’s gaming equipment
  • Costume Creation Challenge - work in teams to create a paper and duct tape costume on the spot
  • Try your hand at writing in Japanese
  • J Pop and K Pop DJ

“AniMangaCon is a great opportunity for like-minded kids from across the Miami Valley to get together and have fun for free,” said Moser. “For anime and manga fans, this is the place to be.”

The event is free and registration is not required. For more information call 937.463.2665.
