From Five Celebrated Chefs

Music, dancing, food and drinks – these are the perfect ingredients for a night of celebration – and all will be in abundance at THE MAIN EVENT on Saturday, April 22. The premier event of the Dayton Metro Library Foundation, THE MAIN EVENT will offer guests a sneak peek of the not-yet-open to the public new Main Library building, as well as a night of entertainment, drinks and expertly-crafted cuisine.

“From the valet parking to the last dance of the night, MAIN EVENT is going to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, including the opportunity to sample the unique creations from five of the Dayton area’s top chefs,” said Michelle Kaye, Co-Chair of Team 17, the volunteer committee planning THE MAIN EVENT. “From savory nibbles to sweet desserts, there will be something to please every palate.”

CHEF JENN DISANTO (SageCraft Catering & Events)

  • Sushi Grade Ahi Tuna with Thai Basil Slaw on a House-Made Edible Spoon
  • Thai Chicken Lollipops

CHEF MATTHEW HAYDEN (Scratch Events)

  • Tuscan Chicken Meatballs with Asiago Fresco
  • Sweet Potato Chips with Candied Onion Dip
  • Nitro Blackberry-Ginger Thai Coconut Sorbet

CHEF ANTHONY HEAD (Ponitz Career Technology Center)

  • BBQ Shrimp and Grits
  • The Original Soul Roll: Smoked, Braised Chicken, Collard Greens and Veggies Wrapped in a Cornmeal-Dusted Egg Roll with Sweet Thai Chili Dipping Sauce

CHEF ANNE KEARNEY (Rue Dumaine)

  • Eggplant Caviar
  • Pickled Gulf Shrimp with Creole Remoulade
  • House-Smoked Ham and Gruyere Crepes

CHEF MARIA WALUSIS (Nibbles Restaurant/Watermark)

  • Wonton Crisps with Goat Cheese and Balsamic Red Pepper Pipperade
  • Salmon Belly with Crème Fraiche on Cucumber Rounds

THE MAIN EVENT takes place Saturday, April 22, 7:00-11:30 p.m. at the new Main Library building, 215 E. Third Street. The all-inclusive tickets are $150 each, with proceeds benefiting the Dayton Metro Library Foundation. The evening includes complementary valet parking, an auction of art and literary packages, interactive experiences in the Library’s new spaces and a three-story Champaign toast, along with live entertainment, food and open bars.  

Featured performances include Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, Femme Fatale Silk Aerialists, performance poet Sierra Leone, and the Black Box Improv troupe. Live music, from big band sounds of The Bob Gray Orchestra to Son Del Caribe’s salsa, will encourage dancing. More than a dozen performances and art experiences are scheduled. “Pulling back the curtain on the new Main Library is an extraordinary opportunity to really celebrate,” said Rodney Veal, Co-Chair of Team 17. “People will marvel at the beautiful new Library while they enjoy all the entertainment and sample some of the region’s best tastes.”
