The Dayton Metro Library is collaborating with 4C for Children to bring the Kaleidoscope Play & Learn© group to theTrotwood Branch Library. This program is for children age five and younger with their parent, grandparent or other caregiver. While the children play and socialize together, caregivers learn about activities they can do at home to support learning.
Play & Learn takes place on Fridays, March 17, April 7 & 21, May 5 & 19, 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the Trotwood Branch Library, 651 E. Main Street.
“I’m so pleased that the Library is able to offer a program specifically for young children who are being cared for at home by family, friends or neighbors,” said Kathleen Moore, Early Literacy Librarian. “Staying home with a young child is a wonderful experience, but it can sometimes feel isolating. The Play & Learn group is chance for caregivers to come to a place designed to meet their needs, entertain and educate their children, and meet others providing the same type of care. They can participate in a developmental assessment of their child and learn about community programs and services available to them.”
4C for Children provides support and education to adults who care for young children in the Southwest Ohio area.
“They have been running Play & Learn groups in the Cincinnati area for several years,” said Moore. “Funding from the Dayton Metro Library has made it possible for them to bring their program to the Miami Valley for the first time.”
