Mark your calendars for one of the most anticipated events of the new year – the big reveal of the new Main Library in downtown Dayton! The Main Event is an exclusive, one-night-only preview celebration featuring Dayton’s hottest chefs, most popular mixologists and exciting live performances. The ticketed event takes place Saturday, April 22, 7:00 - 11:30 p.m. and benefits the Dayton Metro Library Foundation.
“The Dayton Metro Library Foundation is so excited to offer this sneak peek of the Main Library for one amazing evening,” said Rodney Veal, co-chair of Team 17, the volunteer committee planning The Main Event. “It’s going to blow your mind! This is NOT what people expect in their Library. The Main Event is going to rival galas in Chicago, Vegas and LA.”
The Main Library has undergone extensive renovation and expansion since September, 2015, part of the Dayton Metro Library’s system-wide Libraries for a Smarter Future improvement project.
Guests at The Main Event are invited to move throughout the 120,000+ square foot building to discover the amenities and enjoy a variety of arts performances in five different spaces. They can take to the dance floor accompanied by live bands and DJs, watch live theatre and slam poetry, marvel at silk dancers, much more. There will be opportunities for active participation in creative projects, some of which will become enduring gifts to the Library and the community.
“Ticket holders can explore their new Library weeks before it opens to the public,” said Michelle Kaye, co-chair of The Main Event committee. “They will be able to see for themselves the Library’s transformation and the new possibilities it brings to our community. There will be surprises at every turn!”
Presenting sponsor of The Main Event is PNC. In addition to this ticketed event, a free, family-friendly Community Open House, hosted by the staff of the Dayton Metro Library, will be held in late May or early June to officially debut the Main Library in the community.
Tickets for The Main Event go on sale in early 2017. Sponsorship opportunities are still available. For more information, visit DaytonMetroLibrary.org/TheMainEvent or call Megan Cooper at 937.496.8516.
