In Downtown Dayton, the eclipse will peak just before 2:30pm. If you don't have safe eclipse glasses, it's not to late to make your own pinhole camera: https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/…/pr…/how-to-make-a-pinhole-camera/. Dayton Metro Library locations do not have eclipse glasses to give away. Culturegrams is an online collection of reports about over 200 countries, written for upper-elementary school students and above. It provides statistics and information about each country's history, government, daily life and customs.

Hear national anthems, country name pronunciations, and the sounds of state birds. Includes photos, recipes, and interviews with children and adults from many different countries.

Whether you're a student writing a report or someone just interested in learning more about a particular country, Culturegrams is an excellent resource.

The Get Outside Book Club

photo bookclubThe Get Outside Book Club is a Dayton Metro Library and Five Rivers MetroParks program designed for pre-schoolers and their parents. The program takes place September 1 - October 31.

Read about it, talk about it and do it!
Get ready for some nature adventures right in your backyard! This special reading club for preschoolers includes stories that will kick-start imaginations and get you and your little one outside exploring and discovering. Participants can sign up anytime after August 23 and are asked to complete 6 books and 6 activities from the book club list.

Young children are naturally curious about their world. They want to know what things are, how they work, and what they can do with them. The Get Outside Book Club is designed to get you and your preschooler reading great books and then spending time together outside having fun and exploring nature.

Programs are weather dependent.  Registration requested; walk-ins welcome. Register online at www.metroparks.org or call (937) 275-7275.
