Empathy

Being able to take someone else’s perspective is a complex skill that develops over time. Parents can support this development by the model they set, talking about their reasons for kind acts and coaching their children through challenges by describing how someone else might be feeling. (Zero to Three) Having such conversations about characters in a books are a great way to do this.
