Tip for helping preschoolers learn letter names

Learning to recognize and correctly label the letters of the alphabet before they start kindergarten, helps preschoolers to be more successful once kindergarten starts.  Learning the difference between upper and lower case letters makes the task even more challenging.  One strategy for working on this skill sharing a book together, is to point to a letter in the book, name it and tell whether it is upper or lower case. Then, ask your preschooler to find another letter that looks the same and point it out to you.  Ask him to repeat the name of the letter as he points to it.  How many can he find?
